چکیده
Ontologies in current computer science parlance are computer based resources that represent shared conceptualizations for a specific domain. This paper first introduces ontologies in general and subsequently, in particular, shortly outlines the DOGMA ontology leaning approach. The paper also introduces the reader in the field of Knowledge Discovery in Text before, in the main part, work in progress is described and experimentally evaluated. It concerns a potential method to automatically extract concepts and conceptual relationships from texts. Preliminary outcomes are presented based on the clustering of nominal terms and prepositional phrases according to co-occurrence frequencies in the verb-object syntactic context.

STAR Lab Technical Report Template
We report on an on-going effort to assess an automated ontology evaluation method that uses lexical frequencies to determine which are relevant lexical triples of a set of triples automatically mined from a textual corpus. The aim is to obtain a light-weight automatic ontology evaluation method that can be easily applied by knowledge engineers to determine whether or not the most important noti...
متن کاملSelection, Routing, and Sorting on the Star Graph
We consider the problems of selection, routing and sorting on an n-star graph (with n! nodes), an interconnection network which has been proven to possess many special properties. We identify a tree like subgraph (which we call as a '(k, l, k) chain network') of the star graph which enables us to design efficient algorithms for the above mentioned problems. We present an algorithm that performs...
متن کاملEmulation of a PRAM on Leveled Networks
We present efficient emulations of the CRCW PRAM on a large class of processor interconnection networks called leveled networks. This class includes the star graph and the n-way shuffle, which have the interesting property that the network diameter is sub-logarithmic in the network size. We show that a CRCW PRAM can be emulated optimally on these networks (i.e., each emulation step takes time l...
متن کاملType-driven natural language analysis
The purpose of this thesis is in showing how recent developments in logic programming can be exploited to encode in a computational environment the features of certain linguistic theories. We are in this way able to make available for the purpose of natural language processing sophisticated capabilities of linguistic analysis directly justified by well developed grammatical frameworks. More spe...
متن کاملSensor-Fusion With Statistical Decision Theory: A Prospectus of Research in the GRASP Lab
The purpose of this report is to describe research in sensor fusion with statistical decision theory in the GRASP Lab, Department of Computer and Information Science, University of Pennsylvania. This report is thus a tutorial overview of the general research problem, the mathematical framework for the analysis, the results of specific research problems, and directions of future research. The in...
